This terrific graphic novel by Jerry Craft has been receiving critical praise since its publication in early 2019.... and with good reason! The story revolved around the main character, Jordan Banks, whose dream is to go to art school. His parents, however, have enrolled him in the prestigious Riverdale Academy. Enrolling in this new school will cause Jordan to commute every day from Washington Heights. His transition to Riverdale Academy is rocky at first, and Jordan meets an interesting group of new classmates. Author and illustrator, Jerry Craft, does a fantastic showing how being the new kid can be challenging.
This book is sure to be on the Newbery committee's radar for the 2020 Newbery Medal.
